Modular substations and packaged transformer substations

One of the oldest activity of ELIA Plc is the design and manufacture of packaged transformer substations in ELIA Electrical Equipment Plant. They are used and are very suitable for power supply and distribution at medium and low voltage level in residential, office and production buildings, hotels and resorts.

Long-term experience of ELIA Plc in the production of the packaged transformer substations led to a one of the latest trends in the company – building of modular medium and low voltage substations, which arrive on site complete assembled with electrical equipment, ready for installation on a pre-prepared foundation.

The facilities are delivered to the client with design lifecycle of 20-year.

CONSTRUCTION DEVELOPMENT AND MANUFACTURE

The packaged transformer substations have modular type metal structure, intended for outdoor installation. It is made of hot-dip galvanized steel sheets, panel construction,
without welds, and consists of:

Double side and covering walls with mineral wadding heat insulation with thickness of 50 mm.
Built-in insulating material with appropriate heat insulation properties Thermolan TI 112 type, Alcop make.

EXTERIOR COATING

The exterior coating is epoxy powder.
ELIA Plc is recognized by its avant-garde approach for design and manufacture of modular construction (container type) medium and low voltage substations and packaged transformer substations. The modular construction of the company comprises functional modules for MV and LV distribution switchboards and for power transformers. The moduls are worked out in ELIA Electrical Equipment Plant in Dobrich according to client’s request. Each module is manufactured and tested individually in the factory testing station, then transported to site and mounted on pre-prepared foundation. This approach saves significant time and resources of the client.
